This little guy's adventure started as a request for a pattern in my knitting journey. Now he travels everywhere, thanks Della!

The Life of Ugly Doll and Photog

Ugly Dolls was a new concept for me. Almost a chance meeting took place between me and my new stuffed traveling buddy. I spent 3 years as a photojournalist and work part time as a commercial photographer. It took me awhile to “get back into the saddle” again. After a stint in the Army and 3 years of nothing, I decided to get back to a love I divorced under very powerful and emotional circumstances…photography.
During our time apart since 2001 I have grown and changed in so many ways. I have new loves such as knitting, and learning sign language. I have moved past the central focus of my life of photography and learned how to grow into a dynamic and understanding individual. I am now finding a new field interest in psychology and realizing that I am so much more than my camera. My Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling is my new passionate focus. Photography is now my touchstone, a way to get back with myself.
With this newfound maturity I came back to photography looking through a different set of eyes. I have been on a long travel…I guess this is why I decided to Ice Bat my travels. Like me, Ice Bat has traveled and there is still so much for Ice Bat to do and see.
The lighthearted nature of these photos is meant to smile, to see laughter, to know that life is a journey…so take photos along the way!
I received Ice Bat after a request in my online Looming Group (www.dalooms.com, Thanks Isela and Maria!) for a Pattern to make myself an Ugly Doll of my own. Della, a wonderful person, stated that she had one she got from freecycle (www.freecycle.org) and if I wanted “It” I could have “It” (she even used the quotes); she said that “It” was scaring her dogs. I asked her how much and she insisted on no payment just a Thank You and Photos of Ice Bat (Nicknamed in our Group FUGLY DOLL) as he traveled so Della: THANK YOU and the Blog will be for you so you can see Fugly Doll in action. Della, living in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, agreed to photograph Fugly Doll on the beach (I will have those photos soon; I promise).
According to her Records she received Fugly Doll this was a quote from the original owner:

“He started brand new from Campbell CA. He was bought by Constance (my aunt) as a Halloween gift for my 2 yr old daughter, Angelina. She shipped him over to Springfield, NJ and we brought him along with us down to Myrtle Beach”

Now he is returning to New Jersey. This is the last long post. Now it is time for the photos…

HAPPY TRAVELING!
